Tensile Testing machine in UAE

Tensile Testing machine is used to test the mechanical properties (tension, compression,  bending strength etc.) of a given test specimen by exerting tensile, compressive or  transverse stresses. The machine has been named so because of the wide range of tests it  can perform over different kind of materials such as metallic materials, plastic, rubber,  paper, etc. Different types test according to its application of the material, like peel test,  flexural test, tension test, bend test, friction test, spring test etc. It can be helped to deter- mine important material characteristics, e.g. elongation, yield strength or tensile strength,  peel strength, adhesion property testing, flexural properties testing and tear testing of the  samples. Various models are called Single column table-top type low capacity (5-50kN)  instruments and Dual column floor standing type medium capacity machine (50-100kN)  and the Servo Hydraulic Universal Testing Machines with high capacity (100-1000kN).

Tensile testing is a destructive test process that provides information about the tensile strength, yield strength, and ductility of the metallic material. It measures the force required to break a composite or plastic specimen and the extent to which the specimen stretches or elongates to that breaking point.

Ultimate Tensile Strength

The UTS is the maximum stress that a specimen is exposed to during testing. This may differ from the specimen’s strength when breaking depending on if it is brittle, ductile or has properties of both. These material properties can change depending on environment, for example in extreme hot or cold conditions.

Ductility

Ductility relates to the elongation of a tensile test. The percentage of elongation is calculated by the maximum gage length divided by the original gage length. It is commonly described

What are the Advantages of using Tensile Testing?

Flaws in equipment can prove costly and dangerous to the manufacturer and end user of a product. Tensile testing can greatly reduce this danger by determining the engineering stress and other properties of a material or part.

Types of Tension Testing

Other types of tension testing can include:

  • Proof Test where a fixed load is applied to a structure and then removed before the structure enters service. This applied to mooring chains and introduces some permanent deformation and increases the strength.
  • Pressure Test is applied to any equipment that will be under pressure. The level of pressure applied is more than normally experienced.
